The Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 Electric Guitar Series is an entry-level guitar which means that it was mainly developed with beginner musician in mind. Yamaha isn’t best known for guitar making, but the ones they do make are high in sound quality and design.
This Yamaha Pacifica Series is a hidden gem that not a lot of people know about. This particular guitar has a lot of great features to it which leaves the competition way behind.
The Pacifica series was 1st introduced in the 1990’s and now this is Yamaha’s best selling series.
Build – Body and Neck
The Pacifica PAC012 has an aggressive appeal, with its lower bout trimmed, and the tonewood used on this guitar is Agathis. Agathis is a lightweight tonewood that offers warm tones.
To be fair, agathist is not the highest quality material out there but it fits this piece well. This does not have any effect in any form to the exceptional sound quality produced by this guitar.
Also, the Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 comes with a Sonokeling fingerboard. Since this guitar is an entry-level guitar; these features are more than you will need even up to your intermediate stage.
Simply because the Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 has an Agathis body shape you might be quick to conclude that the sound that it produces is of sub-standards, but that’s actually not the case.
The sound from this guitar is warm and clear, it is very well balanced, and you can play this guitar in most genres and still get that great quality sound.
The flat neck of the Pacifica PAC012 allows you to play the guitar much simpler and also allows comfortable forming of chords. Here Yamaha really shows its expertise in tonewood.
This is an entry-level guitar so that means that it comes with basic hardware. This in no way means that the guitar is lacking in anything. The Hardware on this guitar will be more than enough for you as a beginner guitarist.
The Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 comes with; a vintage tremolo bridge, the headstock is equipped with a set of die-cast tuners which can do the job just perfectly. If you don’t go haywire on the Fretboard; this hardware will hold tuning and intonation quite perfectly.
The Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 comes with adequate electronics. This guitar is one of the few guitars that have a humbucker rather than three single coil pickups. Pacifica PAC012 comes with a single volume knob, a pickup select switch, and the pups of this guitar are connected to a single knob. These electronics are superb on this great beginner Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 Electric Guitar.
They are a lot of pros to this guitar as opposed to the cons
Great Quality Guitar at an Affordable Price
I’m just a newbie guitar player, but I know a little about guitar-family and musical instruments as I’ve been playing ukulele for a few years and have a good size collection. I am really impressed with both the construction and quality of this instrument (PAC12).
Taking the instrument out of the box, I could just tell that this was made using precision techniques. The frets were smooth and finished. I love the dark blue finish. The body finish is flawless.
I understand that the PAC12 uses less expensive woods (Agathis for the body and Sonokeling for the fretboard) compared to the PAC112. But there’s nothing that appears or feels cheap about either. I’ve read that different body woods give different tones, but the sound is great to my newbie ears. The setup seems excellent.
Intonation seems pretty good and was easy to make minor adjustments. The tuners hold their tune and are easier to adjust.
I am totally blown away by the high quality that you can get from the low end of Yamaha’s brand. I read some reviews that this is a Golden Age of getting value for entry-level guitars, and I totally agree!
If l was given only one choice to choose any beginners electric guitar, this would undoubtedly be the first choice for me.
If you are either a beginner guitarist or in your intermediate stage and you are looking for a high quality and very well designed guitar than the Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 Electric Guitar would be a very good choice for you.
This is the best guitar for beginners who want to learn how to play while producing excellent sounds right off the bat.
